Model RF exposure and measurement of dielectric properties in DNA and protein molecules
Details

Dielectric measurements of ice and frozen DNA solutions exposed to100 Hz-10 MHz RF are reported. Pure ice exhibits single relaxation behavior while frozen DNA displays double-dispersion behavior. The first dispersion is centered at 3 kHz due to a defect mechanism. The second is centered at 2 MHz due to counter ion flow through water immediately adjacent to the DNA molecule. In additional studies, the authors reported a 5 fold fold increase of the dielectric increment of bovine serum albumin at 20 degrees C when urea was added at 5 mol/L. This effect was reversed with betaine (about 2.5 mol/L)
