RF exposure to lipid membranes and analysis of the activity of embedded channels compared with non-RF heating |
Details |
|
Lipid bilayers containing gramicidin-A channels were exposed to RF at non-thermal and thermal levels. The authors report that RF exposure affected single-channel conductance and channel life time in a manner consistent with a thermal effect. In contrast, the rate of channel formation was decreased by RF but increased by non-RF heating. The authors propose a mechanism of channel dimerization as a possible explanation for this finding. |
