Model 10 GHz exposure to potato virus and analysis of virulence, viability, and ability to attach to binding site
Details

Potato virus Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain B6 (virulent) were exposed to 10 GHz microwaves at a power density of 0.58 mW/cm2 for 30-120 minutes. The authors report a 30 to 60% decrease in virulence (ability to produce tumors on potato and turnip disks). Exposure did not affect viability, ability to attach to a tumor-binding site, and it did not induce thermal shock. The loss of virulence was reversible within 12 hours
