916 MHz (GSM) exposure to humans and analysis of EEG and evoked potentials |

Human subjects (n=13) were exposed to 916.2 MHz GSM at a peak power of 2.8 watts by fitting them with a cell phone strapped over the left temporal / tempo-parietal head region. Record of the EEG showed that task associated sounds, but not random sounds, resulted in an EEG pattern (in the left hemisphere) in the 18.75 - 31.25 Hz frequency band which was increase in spectral power by simultaneous exposure to RF. In conclusion, it was reported that RF exposure altered the brain’s response to task associated (induced), but not irrelevant (evoked), acoustic stimuli. |
