Occupational exposure to video display terminals and correlations with pregnancy outcome |
Details |
|
Workers (n = 522 cases; 1,032 controls) using video screen equipment during pregnancy (births between 1980-1981) were analyzed for adverse correlations with pregnancy outcome (via records from the Medical Birth Registry and a registry containing information on women hospitalized for spontaneous abortion). Occupation and use of computer / video screen equipment was determined by questionnaire. Correlations were observed between video screen use and stress and smoking, and these factors had to be accounted for in the analysis. The authors report no statistically significant effect of video screen work with adverse pregnancy outcome in Swedish workers (OR 1.04; 95% CI 0.9-1.2). |
