2 - 8.75 GHz exposure of plasmid DNA and analysis of ss and ds breaks |
Details |
|
Isolated plasmid DNA exposed to 2 to 8.75 GHz (CW) microwaves at nonthermal levels and analyzed by gel electrophoresis for ss or ds DNA breaks (unwinding). Microwave-induced damage was first observed, but then further studies showed this effect was depent upon the presence of small amounts of copper and that cuprous, but not cupric, ions were able to mimic the effects produced by microwaves on DNA. Studies were also performed looking at resonant absorption in large DNA molecules. |
