Radar (speed gun) exposure to traffic police and analysis of cancer incidence |
Details |
|
Human subjects (6 cases and 340 controls) were analyzed for testicular cancer and environmental exposures. The subjects were police officers taken from two departments in the North Central United States between 1979 and 1991. The study was initiated at these sites following the report of the 6 case cluster. Following an assessment of exposure history, a statistically significant association was made between use of traffic radar guns, specifically use of the gun in the “on” position while at rest in their lap, and testicular cancer (OR 6.9) p= p<0.001, Poisson distribution). |
