400 MHz (Tetra) exposure to UK police and correlation with health and cancer |
Details |
|
400 MHz (Tetra) and health monitoringng of UK police (n=100,000) over 15 years. Airwave is the radio communications service used by every police force in England, Wales and Scotland, as well as fire, ambulance and others. TETRA stands for Terrestrial Trunked Radio and is the standard on which the Airwave Service is based. From 2001, the Home Office contributed to funding research to resolve uncertainties identified by previous evaluations of the possible health risks associated with mobile phone technology and TETRA. These include the MTHR (Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research) Programme as well as the long term Imperial College Health Study. In 2007, with the vesting of the NPIA (National Policing Improvement Agency), the responsibility for this funding and administration passed to the NPIA (http://www.npia.police.uk/en/8794.htm). |
