Study Type In Vivo
Model 1616 MHz (IRIDIUM) exposure to rats and analysis of cancer and pathology (2-year bioassay)
Details

Fisher 344 (fetal rats and pups immediately after birth) exposed (in groups of sham, cage control, RF exposed at 0.16 W/kg [fetal rat brain average]) in an anechoic chamber to a 1616 MHz IRIDIUM signal for 2 hr/day, 7 days/wk from gestation day 19 through day 23 post-partition. Beginning at day 35, adult exposures using 1616 MHz IRIDIUM signal begin (90/group in sham, cage control, RF exposed at 0.16 and 1.6 W/kg [rat brain average]) in the near field from day 32 through 2 years.A cage control group performed in parallel. A whole body tissue histopathological examination was performed. Exposures did not result in any increased tumor formation.
