900 (CW, GSM) exposure to cell lines and yeast and analysis of growth, apoptosis, and oxidative stress (MX-initiated assay) |
Details |
|
L929 fibrosarcoma cell lines were exposed to 900 MHz (GSM or CW) RF at either 0.3 or 1 W/kg in combination with the herbicide Vinclozolin or MX (3-chloro-4-(dichloromethyl)-5-hydroxy-2(5H)- furanone) at different concentrations and different treatment durations. The exposure durations were 10 or 30 minutes for oxidative stress and between 30 minutes and 2 hours for the other biological endpoints. Reactive oxygen species evaluation was performed 10, 20, 40, or 60 minutes following exposure. Cell analysis includes oxidative stress (measurement of the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase, and the intracellular concentration of glutathione, and reactive oxygen species), cell proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, mitochondrial membrane potential modifications and expression of selected proto-oncogenes, such as c-jun, c-fos and c-myc. The authors report no statistically significant effects from RF exposure. |
