RF exposure from radar and electronics to Navy pilots flying electronically modified aircraft and correlation with various diseases |
Details |
|
Navy pilots who flew electronically modified aircraft (n = 1,063) were compared with pilots (aged matched) who flew other types of aircraft (n = 2,126). Aviation-related injuries, hospitalization rates for the diagnostic category of accidents, cardiovascular disease, alcoholism, poisonings, mental disorders, and violence were all higher for various age subcategories of control pilots than for pilots of electronically modified aircraft. The authors conclude that pilots of electronically modified aircraft are not at increased risk for illness or injury because of the aircraft models they primarily flew. |
