Occupational microwave and laser exposure to workers and correlation with cataract formation |
Details |
|
Ocular examinations were performed in microwave and laser workers. Analysis of over 800 workers revealed no significant increase in lenticular or retinal defects that could be attributed to work with either microwave or laser radiation, although an increase in minute lenticular defects was noted with increasing age. The study concluded that periodic medical surveillance was nonproductive and suggestions were made to limit medical surveillance to preassignment, postaccident exposure, and termination eye examinations. |
