2450 MHz (CW) exposure to rabbit eyes and analysis of tissue pathology |
Details |
|
Rabbits were exposed to 2450 MHz (CW) MW at high levels for various amounts of time from 6 hours to 1 month at intervals. One hour before animals were killed, tritiated thymidine was injected into the anterior chamber of both eyes. Following sacrifice, epithelial peels were made and autoradiographed to identify cells undergoing DNA synthesis. Lenses without vesicle strings showed an initial suppression of DNA synthesis following exposure, followed by gradual return to normal levels. Lenses with strings showed an increase in DNA synthesis on the fourth to fifth day after exposure, possibly due to lens hydration. |
