CHO cells were heated either with 2450 MHz microwaves or to a comparable temperature using non-MW conventional heating. Effects on survival were similar. Other studies by Dethlefsen showed that hyperthermia treatment itself could lower the X-ray doses necessary for kill of cancer cells as a treatment in experimental animal models. |
